The Wept Of A Friend.

I guess of all us will agree that it's not easy to lost a friend. Especially if your friend is always at your side in times of hardship.

But more importantly, the true value of friendship is really there, if both of you are on helping hands.

Let's take a look the story of friendship of Jesus and the siblings Lazarus, Mary and Martha.

We don't know how their friendship has started. But when Jesus learned that Lazarus was sick. He then responded to go to his place even if his life was threatened. We see how Jesus was a true friend by risking his life for the sake of his friend.

When he got there he saw Mary and Martha weeping, even the people around. And when Jesus saw his friend Lazarus laid in the tomb dead. He was moved deeply and wept.

I was 15-years old when I learned the shortest verse in the Bible is John 11:35 "Jesus Wept". He wept because he lost his friend.

However, there was always a purpose why God allowed this to happen because Jesus couldn't have bring Lazarus back to life if he didn't die. Which was the main point of the story is that, Jesus is going to do the same thing to all us who has trusted in Him as Savior and Lord. That we will be resurrected because He is the resurrection and life.

But other than that, Jesus showed as an example of a true friend. He was willing to risk his life for his friend Lazarus. And He is always a true friend to us. For His love for us does not and will not change.

All of us are friends or have friends.

How are we going to demonstrate a true friendship to them?

The Son of Man

John 5: 27   And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.   Here we see Jesus relationship with the Father. How intimate it is that the Father gave him the authority to judge.  But what does "Son of Man" mean? This does not mean that Jesus was son of Joseph the husband of Mary who conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Let's read the book of   Daniel 7: 13-14  to help us understand why Jesus has this title being the "Son of Man". 13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. Jesus was obviously fulfilling the prophecy of Daniel when he said in...

The Road.

John 5:23 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.  Jesus statement became more not acceptable to the ears of Jewish leaders this time. Notice, He said "all may honor the Son". Not some. Therefore each and everyone must give honor to Him.  John in his little book in First John make it more dangerous. He used the word "deny" which has the same verb meaning with  disagree, renounce, decline even refuse or reject.  1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father:  (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also . (KJV). But you see, how God gives us the chance? Both Jesus and John didn't stop there. They still gives options that those who honors and acknowledges the Son does the same to the Father. There is no bypass at all. Must go through Jesus always.  Let's back up a little of what John has said "whoe...

Who are the Pharisees?

John 5: 16-18 16   So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.  17   In his defense Jesus said to them,  “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”   18   For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.  It's amazing to know that God has always and would not stop working in my life. As I still have things in life that I need God's mercy to change and mold me. In spite of being not perfect, yet I have a perfect and loving God who always there for me. Lift me up in times of down and sad moments. Every single day, God through His word speaks to me and with His Holy Spirit who convicts and leads me to obey His word. I can't go on serving Him without His grace.  The powerful response of Jesus in verse 17 destructed ...
