After I graduated high school. I enrolled an Education course in College because I wanted to be a teacher. That was how I planned, it was the way I made my future. But God has its own way. For sure you have plans for your future as well. But what if God has His own plans for you?
John 15:1-15
In the previous story where Jesus healed the dying son of a royal officer we learned it was him who went to Jesus and asked for his son's healing (John 4: 43-53).
Although the person that Jesus healed had been disabled for 38-years. The text doesn't mention it is the oldest type disease. Because if it does, that means Jesus healing depends on the tenureship of a disease. Jesus can heal a new or old type of sickness. It's not about how long it's been that way.
The Jesus way.
Let's take a look the background of this event, which is a Sabbath. Where it is prohibited by the Jews practice to perform any single work. If Jesus would heal all of them, the Jews would accuse Him of breaking their law. Notice, Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there in verse 13b" because He does not want the Jews will accuse Him of breaking the Sabbath law. Then why Jesus healed during Sabbath.
Did He break the law? Not at all. Because if He does, what if these great number of disabled people would heal after jumping into the pool as mentioned verse 7. Are they not all going to carry all their mats? And if they will, what's going to be the reaction of the Jews to all of them why they are carrying their mats? Surely, they would tell them they are breaking the law.
To me, it's more on Jesus sovereignty, it's His way. It's how did it. And it's beyond our comprehension. That's why we just need to put everything in His hands. For He knew what's best for us. In Proverbs 16:9 it says, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps."
In the previous story where Jesus healed the dying son of a royal officer we learned it was him who went to Jesus and asked for his son's healing (John 4: 43-53).
Here it's quite different because it was Jesus who offered a healing to a disabled man for 38-years. He said in verse 6 "Do you want to get well?"
If we read the entire story found in John 15:1-15. There we see a great number of people waited for healing. There are blinds, lame and the paralyzed. In the context we cannot clearly know how they will be healed but surely they're not waiting for Jesus. In verse 7 the disabled man whom offered for healing said " “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Although it's not in the context but it is studied by scholars that the Jews believed that when a sick person jumped into the pool, an angel will stir the water and they will get healed. Again, we don't know for sure because the context doesn't say.
But what makes more interesting here is that in all of the disabled people. Jesus only offered a healing to one person. We know that Jesus can heal all of them if He choose to. But what do you think He only healed one person ? Does this mean His power to heal was not enough? Or does not mean He showed favoritism? No, not at all.

Put everything in His hands and submit to His will for His thoughts are not our thoughts, neither our ways, are His ways,” Isaiah 55:8-9.
Remember, It's Jesus way. Not ours. If we rely in our own way, we will surely fail.
