The phrase/s "Fake News"  is one of the trending topics we can see on TV, read on the internet and even in the print media. These phrase/s are common especially in the government. If there's a particular issue (s) thrown to them especially if it is not true. They would call it a "fake news".
Let's read a story of Jesus when He went up to Jerusalem to attend a Jewish Passover.
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
- Passover (Pesach in Hebrew) is one of the most important religious festivals for the Jews. Now, why this is an important festival for them? Because this is a remembrance of God's faithfulness of how they were saved from the Egyptian captivity. Through Moses, God delivers them from Egypt and set them free.
- When the Jews were slaved of Egypt. The Lord have not forgotten His covenant. So in Exodus 2:24-25 , "God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them."
- In our Christian lives today. We have to remember God's grace and goodness by giving His only Son Jesus to saved us from hell. I'ts not probably necessary to spend money to prepare for foods or some sort of festival but it's already enough to say "Thank You, Lord" for your grace and mercy that you God stepped down from your Throne to die on the cross for my sins. And we have to give value on what Christ did for us. And as day-to-day He's still working on us through the Holy Spirit molding us to be like Him.
14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”[c]
- The temple courts or the outside courts is for the Gentiles. Probably those Gentiles who does not know the kind of animals they're going to offer were forced to buy. And it was a good profit for those who are selling. And the big question mark here is that the officer in-charge tolerated it. There something not good going on here. And since these activities were not good, Jesus rebuked them. And it was not just a simple rebuke, He drove them all away.
- When God rebukes us, expect that sometimes it really hurts. He said, He disciplines those whom He loves. (Hebrews 12:6)
18 The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”
- This particular question implies there is someone behind their activities. Someone backing them up. They're like telling Jesus "Don't you know we have someone higher who's protecting us.
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
- It's interesting Jesus said "I will raise it again in three days. He was referring to His resurrection. In other places of Scripture like in "Acts 2:24 it says " But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. While in Romans 8:11 "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. See the picture of the of Trinity.
- The Jews look at the earthly or physical temple but Jesus was referring to His body. People are always like that, they only sees the things are temporary but not things that would last.
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.[d] 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
- When we came to know the Lord. How is it based from? God surely understand we came to know Him because probably He heals us from severe a sickness. But what If He didn't heal us would we still come and surrender our lives to Him and allow Him to rule over us as Lord and Savior?
- How's our worship with God? I hope it's not fake like the trending phrases today "fake news". Always remember God knew our hearts. How faithful and sincere we are to Him. He even knew the number of our hair. He sees everything in us. Let's ask forgiveness to Him if there are times that we are not sincere of our worship.
- Like these people who were religiously doing the Passover festival in the temple. Yes it was a good thing to do but their hearts are far from God because of doing things that are not pleasing to His sight while performing the said festival.
Personal Application:
I cannot pretend before God for He knows and sees what's inside me. I will have to humble before Him for His grace only I am saved.  And that He gives me the privilege to worship Him, to bless Him and sing Him with praises and worships. For what I am destined is hell but by His grace, He gives me the chance to serve and worship Him daily.
