Personal Devotions - Book of John 1: 1-8 - Jesus was the Word who became flesh but God and was with God in the beginning.

John 1:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The word "beginning" refers back to the creation of the world in Gen 1:1 where it says "God created the heavens and earth. The Word was there during the creation of the world. And notice it's capital "W".
...the Word was with God. There are two persons obviously here.
...the Word was God. Who is the Word? Answer: He is God in the beginning.

Let's connect this to verse 14 where it says " The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth". The Word in verse 1 that was with God and God himself is the same Word who became flesh or human.
...made his dwelling among us simply means the Word have lived on earth as a full human.
...his glory, the glory of the one and only Son. The Word was the only Son Jesus Christ.
...full of grace and truth. He is hundred percent gracious and true. There was no lie nor false in Him. His grace was so abundant.

2 He was with God in the beginning. John emphasized again that in the beginning the Word was already with God. He wanted us to remember that Jesus and the Father was always in fellowship.

Personal Application:
I would always begin my day with the Word. Seeking Him in prayer to strengthen my spiritual life. As Jesus was with fellowship with God in the beginning. I would be setting Him as an example by having a fellowship with the Father through Him.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. The Word who was God in the beginning was the Creator of all things. That's not hard to understand. Without the Word there was nothing here on earth today. That's a simple logic. But the Atheist made it complicated for they said they don't believe that there is a creator. And there is no God. That's their problem, not me.

4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  What we inherit from Adam and Eve was death or condemnation but in Jesus we will inherit life. If we trust Him we will have life as well. Meaning we will not be die eternally.

5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Jesus has conquered death through the cross. He has overcome death and defeated the devil and its work. He alone is our hope.

Personal Application:
Having a personal relationship with Jesus as the source of life secure me have an internal life. No matter what happens, I will just put everything into His hands for without Him I can do nothing at all.

6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. We have to make sure it was God who sent us like John. Not your church or denomination. Or else you will fail.If you are indeed sent from God you have to be obedient with your calling or mission. I've seen people who claimed they're were sent from God but heart is from from God.

7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. God has always a reason for John. He was sent as a witness means to testify for Jesus. So "all might" believe meaning there are still that does not believe. Here we come's the freewill of man.

8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
It's very clear that John was only an instrument. He is not Jesus himself. He was only a witness for Jesus. That's why we have to be very careful of Quiboloy in Davao City who claimed that he is the son of God himself. He is a cult.Watch out of him.

Personal application:

I pray that God would use me as well like John. Even in simple things. Not necessarily a leader or pastor but even in just smaller things such as a dishwasher.

The Life We Ought To Be.

If there is one thing that you love most in you life, what is it? John 5:13-15 The verses below was about the invalid man for 38-years  whom Jesus healed. It was Jesus who offered the healing for him.  13 The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. 14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well. In all the things in the world. It was the "sin" that Jesus was telling him to stop. Jesus said to him "... Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” Does it mean he's gonna be invalid or disable again? I don't think so. This means that sin in our lives does not have a good result. Jesus was telling him that if he keeps on sinning it's going to ruin his spiritual life. See friends, Jesus was not only helpin...

What are your New Year's resolution?

I'm pretty sure we have New Year's resolution in our bucket list for the year 2018. We've been accustomed to have one. But are we going to really follow all of them? It's been common for most us to make a list of our New Year's resolution but we cannot deny the fact that we failed to follow them.  In these verses below, Paul explained the reason why we all fail.   “There is no one righteous, not even one;  there is no one who understands;  there is no one who seeks God.  All have turned away, they have together become worthless;  there is no one who does good, not even one.”  Romans 3:10-12. These verses simply means regardless of what religion you have or you belongs to. You are dead in the eyes of God. There are no exceptions.  Now, since there is no one is righteous that means no one can see God. That's why Christ died for our sins so we'll have access to God through Him. He is only perfect man who is God by nature who...

The Son of Man

John 5: 27   And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.   Here we see Jesus relationship with the Father. How intimate it is that the Father gave him the authority to judge.  But what does "Son of Man" mean? This does not mean that Jesus was son of Joseph the husband of Mary who conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Let's read the book of   Daniel 7: 13-14  to help us understand why Jesus has this title being the "Son of Man". 13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. Jesus was obviously fulfilling the prophecy of Daniel when he said in...
